How to hire an SEO company
Every online business, particularly small ones, needs to optimise their website to obtain high placement with search engines. However, not every online business knows how to perform search engine optimisation or SEO.
When you lack the resources and skills, you hire someone more experienced, right? The same thing is applicable here: you hire an SEO expert who can handle the optimisation job better than you or your internal staff.
But how do you select or hire an SEO company?
First of all, you request quotations and do initial review of the candidates. After which, you create a shortlist, perhaps select three to five firms who are the likely candidates for the project. Out of those three firms, you will then narrow down your selection to one. To choose the ideal SEO firm to partner with you need to remember the following factors.
Transparent – the company must be an open book, ever willing to provide you with the necessary updates and information regarding what they are doing, why they are doing it, what they are planning to do. Remember, it is your website, your online presence, that’s at stake here. You should not just trust others who are not open to you.
Experienced – it’s always great to hire someone who has proven track record in the area of SEO. Request for references and see if they have successfully made clients obtain a high search engine results position or SERP. If they haven’t then there must be something wrong with their practices.
Provides additional improvement – an SEO firm should not only focus on gaining high SERP for you, but they must also find ways to improve the overall appearance and function of your website. If they perform improvements as part of the package, the better for you. A high SERP is nothing if visitors will not like to visit your website or be converted into customers.
Realistic – if a firm’s claims and promises are too good to be true, then they’re most probably are. Choose an SEO company who can deliver great results that are realistic. If the company says it will deliver results in a month, that’s more like wishful thinking. SEO isn’t one of those easy and fast fixes; it usually takes three or so months for you to get results.
Does things manually – search engines do not like automation in the field of SEO, specifically in submitting articles and listings to websites and directories. Although automation hastens everything, it is not entirely a good choice when it comes to optimisation. Also, a website must first be developed for humans not robots or programs – remember that.
