Leeds Business Week Day Two: Tuesday 24 September
After a great start to the week yesterday, I began my Tuesday at Leeds Business Week 2013 at the ‘Marketing for technology businesses’ seminar presented by Chris Middleton from creative agency, Eskimo Soup. It was a really interesting and useful talk covering things like personality marketing, content marketing and other different types of marketing.
He had a useful tip for SMEs not sure what to tweet: break up the days in the week and focus on a different thing each day to focus your Twitter content strategy. So, for example:
- Monday – what goes on behind the scenes
- Tuesday – how things are made
- Wednesday – helpful tips
- Thursday – media stories and press coverage
- Friday – focus on people: customers, suppliers or staff
Chris highlighted that as 20% users are now accessing websites via their mobiles, if you don’t have a mobile optimised website, it’s like your shop being closed one day per week.
He raised the issue of whether to have prices on your website, which gave me some food for thought…
Also wanted to mention the great location: The Food Academy at Flannels. Great location for a really informative breakfast session.
Unfortunately I had meetings and other work to do on Tuesday afternoon so missed the later sessions, but was back again on Wednesday for more!
