My Top 5 Upcoming Search & Social events

24 April, 2013

leave you a ReviewHere is an overview of my top search and social events: some of them I’m attending; and for others I will be following the updates online. As jrc.agency is a Leeds based website development and SEO company, I’ve included some of the main Leeds digital events. But I’ve also thrown in a couple of the best upcoming international search and social conferences that are definitely worthy of note.

ionSearch, Leeds – 18th & 19th April 2013

Although the conference was last week, I just had to include ionSearch in my list. It is a relatively new face on the SEO and social media conference circuit but is already becoming established as the north’s finest search marketing conference. The event offers a broad programme of keynote talks, expert panels, theatre talks and workshops led by a range of different digital search and agency experts. The ionSearch website is well worth a visit, even if you’re not attending. The 2012 slide decks and videos of all sessions are available on completely free access, and you can follow conference updates on the ionSearch blog feed. This is also currently a lively post-event debate on Twitter – follow #ionsearch for details.

BlueGlass, Los Angeles – May 21st & 22nd 2013

Blueglass is strategic digital marketing agency with offices in Florida, Los Angeles, London, Zurich and Queensland, Australia. They bill the internationally renowned Blueglass annual conference as “the two day digital marketing conference that transforms lives.” This year’s event in May brings together “33 hand-picked expert speakers and 10 advanced sessions with no holding back.” As of this morning, there’s 12 tickets left if you fancy an awesome and potentially career-changing trip to LA! Alternatively, follow @blueglass on Twitter for all the latest updates.

Mozcon, Seattle – 8th – 10th July 2013

Many of you will be familiar with SEOmoz. Their daily SEO blog is hugely popular and influential, and a great source of up-to-date SEO industry news. MozCon says: “Launch your inbound marketing skills into outer space by attending this year’s MozCon! For three days, we bring you amazing, future-thinking content from industry leaders, deep diving into SEO, social media, marketing analytics, content strategy, data science, and so much more.” This is certainly one for the wish list!

Leeds Digital Festival, Leeds – October 2013

Leeds Digital Festival “aims to shine a light on talent, creativity, innovation, imagination and some of the best digital minds in the north of England.” The festival is unique in being truly collaborative, with a small team of “curators” who facilitate and assist digital professionals and “geeks” from the region to programme and run their own events. The events take place over a two-week period in October, and all are open to the public to attend. The 2013 festival programme hasn’t been published yet as it’s up to you to create it! View the 2012 Leeds Digital festival programme here. To get involved, you can attend the planning meeting on 1st May or follow @LDSDigital for updates.

Think Visibility, Leeds – 1st March 2014

Think Visbility is celebrating its 5th birthday in March next year, and is an excellent conference for anyone working in SEO and digital or those who want to understand more about SEO techniques. As a taster, the March 2013 conference included topics such as: ‘Swerving the Guest Blogging Smackdown’ by James Agate of SkyRocket; ‘Digital Attribution – models and how to talk about attribution to a business’ (on using attribution models within web analytics) by Russell McAthy of Stream:20; the rather humorously “Ronseal” named ‘How to spot a sh*tty link’ (on good quality linkbilding techniques) by Paul Madden of Automica; ‘(Past, Present and) future of Negative SEO’ by IrishWonder of Content Mango; and ‘Maximising Your SERP Potential – Enhance Your Listings with Rich Snippets’ by Pete Handley of the Media Flow.
